Lochac’s First Coronation – The History of Lochac

The Coronation of the first Crown of Lochac event was hosted by the Barony of Politarchopolis and ran over the whole weekend. The event was attended by more than 450 people, including visitors from other Kingdoms in the Known World.

The Coronation event began with a ball to honour Prince Gawyne and Princess Yve on Friday, 5 July 2002. In honour of the last Prince and Princess of Lochac, Ivone Pons Ler (Bard of the West) performed a song: The Last of Our Kind.

The following day, the last Court of the West in Lochac was held where every Principality Officer formally resigned their post, every landed Baron and Baroness stepped down and handed back their coronets, and every Peer was released from Fealty.

Before the King and Queen of Lochac could be crowned and Lochac could officially become a kingdom, all the laws of the new kingdom had to be read aloud. Following the conclusion of this, which took many heralds and much time, the Coronation Court began.

The frieze hanging along the wall depicts the devices and names of all of the Viceroys and Vicerines, and Princes and Princesses that had reigned in the Crown Principality and Principality of Lochac. Then, on Saturday, 6 July 2002 (AS 36), Lochac became the 17^th Kingdom of the Known World at the hands of King Jade and Queen Megan of the West Kingdom.

Viscount Sir Alfar of Attica and Viscountess Gudrun Bodvarsdottir were invested as the first King and Queen of Lochac.

The Sunday following the Coronation of the first Crown of Lochac saw heavy and rapier tournaments and market stalls in a park.
